Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Launch

The long-awaited cosmetics line from Rihanna, Fenty Beauty, has finally launched at Sephora and Sephora.com! 😃😍 After checking out all of the products online, I decided to take a look up close, in store.  The initial release includes foundation, concealer-foundation sticks, highlighters/blushes, blotting paper, a lip gloss, and a couple brushes/tools.  The packaging is super chic and modern, in shades of beige/blush and white.  A cool feature that I noticed is that the Match Stick Trios (not pictured) are magnetic and click together! 😲 Very nice touch.

I’m not in the market for a new foundation (I currently use NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint and am perfectly content with it 😊); but was intrigued by the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters, which retail for $34.00 USD.

I decided to purchase the Killawatt Highlighter in Ginger Binge/ Moscow Mule, whose shades are described as a “soft copper sheen / supercharged copper shimmer.”   Because this line is so pretty, simply buying one item didn’t seem like enough (I have a shopping problem, obviously 😩).  So I decided to also grab a #120 Cheek-Hugging Highlight Brush, which retails for $32.00 USD.  The brush is described as having synthetic bristles and “expertly chiseled curves on both sides that ‘hug’ more than just your cheeks.'”  The bristles are surprisingly soft for synthetic fibers.  I haven’t used it yet, but I think it’ll be a nice upgrade from the E.L.F. blush brush that I’ve been using forever.

Although the Killawatt compacts are described as highlighters, I’d say that this specific combination is more of a blush, in terms of color and appearance when applied. In terms of shade/color, these are in the realm of NARS Orgasm blush.  The big difference for me though from Orgasm, is the pigmentation. 😱 On my skin tone, Orgasm is a light, peachy tone with golden, shimmery highlights.  In contrast, Moscow Mule (right inside compact) is a richly pigmented, golden peach with golden shimmer.  Ginger Binge (left inside compact) is more rose gold and less shimmery than Moscow Mule.

A side-by-side comparison of the Killawatt shades with NARS Orgasm is shown below.  The Killawatt shades go on smoothly and are buildable. 🙂
Overall, I’m really satisfied with this purchase.  I’m not big on highlighters, so I’m glad Fenty Beauty offered an option that’s more of a blush.  This will likely be my new daily go-to.  Thus far, the quality seems to justify the price tag.  So no complaints from me.  I can’t wait to see what other items are added to the line in the coming months! 😍
